Perdue Farms has joined Puro.earth, Arva Intelligence, and Millpoint to launch an environmental board of trade, a nonprofit 501(c)(6) group focused on standardizing regenerative agriculture environmental attributes. The group wants to create consistent methodologies for scope 3 insetting claims, voluntary carbon credits, 45Z clean fuel credit certificates, and co-benefit claims tied to farming practices. Puro.earth is also launching a separate registry for environmental attribute credits, initially centered on agricultural carbon intensity scores. The registry will tie a carbon intensity score to a defined production quantity, origin site, production period, and geospatial records, and track the buyer. Perdue and Arva are the first adopters. The effort comes as SBTi updates its Forest, Land and Agriculture guidance, the GHG Protocol land sector standard takes effect in January 2027, and 45Z compliance requires carbon intensity data. Perdue says the goal is to cut deal timelines from months to weeks and reduce repeated data requests to farmers. Whether buyers trust the registry will determine if it actually scales.
