PepsiCo and TalusAg Partner to Decarbonize Fertilizer via Low-Carbon Ammonia Attributes
global-agriculture.comPepsiCo has partnered with TalusAg to reduce emissions in its agricultural supply chain by purchasing low-carbon ammonia environmental attributes. This book-and-claim model allows PepsiCo to support low-emissions ammonia production without requiring the physical fertilizer to be transported to every specific farm, keeping costs stable for growers. The agreement covers approximately 30,000 metric tons of low-carbon ammonia across Europe, Asia Pacific, and Sub Saharan Africa. The project utilizes tokenized Environmental Attribute Certificates (EACs) to track and retire carbon reductions, providing a scalable way to fund new low-carbon fertilizer capacity.
