PepsiCo and Talus Partner to Decarbonize Fertilizer via Low-Carbon Ammonia

PepsiCo is partnering with Talus to reduce Scope 3 emissions by integrating low-carbon ammonia into its global agricultural supply chains. The initiative focuses on replacing traditional Haber-Bosch fertilizer production, which relies heavily on natural gas, with cleaner alternatives to lower the carbon footprint of food systems. The partnership utilizes a book-and-claim model supported by S3 Markets to track Environmental Attribute Certificates (EACs). This allows PepsiCo to claim emissions reductions independently of the physical delivery of fertilizer, creating a financial incentive for the deployment of distributed, low-emission ammonia production sites.
