PepsiCo and Fertiberia are scaling a partnership to use fertilizers produced with green hydrogen instead of natural gas. The initiative covers 162,000 hectares of crops across Europe, including potatoes and corn, aiming to reduce the carbon footprint of the agricultural supply chain. Early pilots in Spain and Portugal showed CO2 emission reductions of 15% for potato crops and 20% for corn. The companies plan to increase the use of these low-carbon inputs to 50% of PepsiCo's European supply chain by 2030.
