Peninsula has completed its first bio-LNG bunkering operation in the Port of Cadiz, supplying Royal Caribbean Group's newest Icon-class cruise ship, Legend of the Seas. The delivery marks Peninsula's first bio-LNG supply in Cadiz and extends its coverage to all three Icon-class vessels. Bio-LNG is produced from organic waste and can reduce lifecycle greenhouse gas emissions compared to conventional marine fuels while being fully compatible with existing LNG infrastructure and dual-fuel engines. For Royal Caribbean, this supply is part of its SEA the Future platform focused on lower-carbon fuels and diversified energy solutions. The operation required coordination with the Port of Cadiz, Royal Caribbean Group, and vessel captains to ensure safe and efficient fuel transfer. As cruise operators introduce more advanced vessels, bio-LNG offers a practical and scalable option for reducing emissions without major modifications to ships or supply chains.
