Pasadena Water and Power wins national award for 2030 carbon-free electricity push
localnewspasadena.comPasadena Water and Power received a 2026 Green Power Leadership Award from the Center for Resource Solutions in the Impactful Procurement category. The award recognizes work toward Pasadena's goal of 100 percent carbon-free electricity by 2030, including renewable import contracts, local solar, and the planned 25 MW Glenarm battery storage project. The 2030 target grew out of years of community organizing, especially the PASADENA 100 coalition, and was adopted by the City Council in January 2023. PWP is now building storage and negotiating regional renewable contracts to meet that deadline. The award highlights procurement decisions made since 2025, not just stated goals.
