Pasadena Water and Power is implementing a strategic plan to reach 100% carbon-free electricity by 2030. The utility has already secured 200 MW of renewable energy and 80 MW of battery storage through contracts valued at approximately 1.2 billion dollars. Key initiatives include a 25 MW battery energy storage system at the Glenarm Power Plant and 20 MW of municipal solar projects on city properties. The city is also expanding residential solar and battery rebates to increase local distributed energy resources and modernize the grid for electrification.
