Parc Traffwll solar farm cable: Anglesey planners weigh Roman remains and wildlife concerns
dailypost.co.ukDevelopers behind the 30-40MW Parc Solar Traffwll project on Anglesey are seeking approval for a 2.5km underground cable route. The trench would be 40cm to 70cm wide and about 1m deep, running from Llanfihangel yn Nhowyn toward Bryngwran. Anglesey Council's planning committee will consider the application on October 7. Local objections focus on archaeology and ecology. Bryngwran Community Council argues the route crosses areas of known or potential archaeological interest and could disturb habitats and breeding birds. Residents also worry about construction damage to water mains and the fact that the revised route differs from the one assessed under the original 2023 consent. Heneb, the Welsh archaeology trust, says most of the route would have limited impact. It recommends a targeted 30m trial trench at Caer Elen Farm, where historic maps suggest a possible Roman camp, before construction. That would determine whether remains exist and whether the route needs adjusting.
