Pandora is adding carbon footprint data to its product information, treating emissions as a fifth grading criterion alongside cut, color, clarity, and carat. The company reports that its lab-grown diamonds, produced with 100% renewable electricity, have a carbon footprint approximately 90% lower than mined diamonds. The initiative uses a cradle-to-gate life cycle assessment verified by EY and follows ISO standards. By sharing this methodology, Pandora aims to increase transparency in the jewelry industry and allow consumers to compare the climate impact of their purchases.
