Exactly. If the grid plan doesn't list those reactors, they aren't getting built in this decade. Also curious how they plan to integrate 4.7 GW nuclear with solar and wind without more transmission and storage. The article skips that.

The non-NPT constraint is the real bottleneck. Without access to IAEA financing or Western vendors, they are entirely dependent on China for reactors and fuel. That limits scale and creates geopolitical risk. The 44 GW Vision 2050 number feels aspirational without a clear funding pathway.

Still, nuclear is providing 17 percent of generation from 9 percent of capacity. That is a solid operational story. If they can get C-5 online by 2030 and keep the existing fleet running, that is a meaningful low-carbon contribution even if the 8.8 GW target slips.

True, but the article glosses over cost and timeline risk. C-5 broke ground in 2023 and is targeting 2030. That is a 7 year build. For a 1.2 GW plant that is not unusual, but any delays push it past 2030 and the target becomes even more symbolic.
