Owens Corning has introduced the FOAMULAR NGX 250, an extruded polystyrene (XPS) rigid foam insulation designed for foundation walls, under slabs, and roof assemblies. The product offers a compressive strength of 250 kPa and aims to cut embodied carbon emissions by around 50 percent compared to earlier FOAMULAR formulations, according to the company. It is positioned for residential and light commercial projects where both structural performance and lower environmental impact are priorities. The NGX 250 boards are available in thicknesses from 1 to 4 inches, with standard 4x8 foot dimensions. They carry third-party environmental product declarations (EPDs) and are intended to help builders meet stricter energy codes and sustainability targets such as LEED. The product competes with other XPS and EPS insulation options, with Owens Corning differentiating through its environmental messaging and brand recognition. For investors, the product is part of Owens Corning's broader insulation portfolio, which includes fiberglass and spray foam. The company's focus on manufacturing upgrades for NGX technology reflects a bet on growing demand tied to energy efficiency standards and decarbonization goals in the building sector.
