Oterra and HowGood add product carbon footprints for food ingredient buyers
foodanddrinktechnology.comOterra has partnered with sustainability intelligence platform HowGood to publish Product Carbon Footprints (PCFs) for selected ingredients. The data links Oterra's existing site and supply chain information to the specific products customers buy, so food and beverage manufacturers can use it in Scope 3 reporting instead of relying on estimates. The first phase covers selected Oterra products and uses HowGood's methodology. Oterra will also use HowGood's footprinting tools to measure and communicate its own environmental impact. The move builds on Oterra's 2030 Sustainability Strategy and responds to customer demand for more detailed supply chain data. For buyers, the practical gain is ingredient-level carbon numbers that can feed directly into emissions inventories. It still leaves questions about boundary setting and methodology alignment, but it is a step away from supplier-level averages toward product-specific data.
