A new direct rail service connecting Oslo, Copenhagen, Hamburg, and Berlin is scheduled to launch in summer 2028. This joint initiative by Vy, DSB, and Deutsche Bahn aims to provide a sustainable, low-carbon alternative to short-haul flights across Northern Europe. The service will utilize modern rolling stock, including ICE L trains, and leverage existing infrastructure upgrades and the upcoming Fehmarnbelt fixed link to reduce travel times. This project represents a strategic shift toward electrified, long-distance rail travel to lower regional greenhouse gas emissions.
