Oro Ecológico, EcoGuard, and Envex Alliance Targets 27 Million Hectares for Latin American Carbon Markets
prnewswire.comOro Ecológico Nexus, EcoGuard Global, and Envex Technologies announced a strategic alliance at the New York Climate Summit 2026 to connect Latin American land-based carbon projects to institutional markets. The partnership combines Oro Ecológico's land mandates across Peru, Colombia, Bolivia, and Brazil with EcoGuard's digital MRV and Hedera-based infrastructure and Envex's trading platform. Initial deployment covers about one million hectares, with potential for 5 to 10 million tCO2e in nature-based credits per year, scaling later to the full 27 million hectare portfolio. Backers say the structure is designed to make credits eligible for Article 6, CORSIA, and voluntary markets from the start. The open questions are the usual ones: how FPIC and benefit-sharing with communities are enforced, how baselines are set, and whether host country authorizations under Article 6 will actually line up. For carbon market watchers, this is a useful test of whether integrated origination-to-market infrastructure can deliver at scale.
