Orion S.A. starts circular carbon black production from tire pyrolysis oil at Qingdao, China plant
recyclingtoday.comOrion S.A. has begun producing circular carbon black at its ISCC Plus certified plant in Qingdao, China, using tire pyrolysis oil (TPO) as feedstock. The facility makes three grades of Ecorax Circular carbon black (200, 210, and 215), which are drop in replacements for conventional ASTM grades N326 and N330 used in tires and mechanical rubber goods. This expands Orion's circular production beyond its existing European operations in Jaslo, Poland. The company uses dedicated infrastructure with separate oil tanks to segregate TPO and carbon black oil, then blends them in controlled ratios during production. This allows precise measurement of recycled content, which helps tire manufacturers meet sustainability targets without sacrificing performance. Orion says it was the first carbon black producer to commercialize ISCC Plus certified grades from 100% TPO and now has the capability to scale circular production globally.
