The project shows that organic flow batteries can work with widely available, non-toxic materials. While the performance is far too low for grid storage, the approach could make flow battery demonstrations accessible in classrooms. The use of matcha powder and common materials like graphite foil and activated carbon keeps costs low and safety high. This is a proof of concept, not a commercial product. The voltage and current are minimal, and scaling would require different chemistry. But for teaching electrochemistry and flow battery principles without hazardous chemicals, this is a practical and clever build.
