timesofoman.comOQ Group's Green Initiative, launched in 2021 with Oman's Ministry of Agriculture, has distributed more than 274,000 fruit and wild tree seedlings across the country. The project aims to expand green areas, support local food production, and reduce carbon emissions. Officials estimate the trees will absorb roughly 8,000 tonnes of CO2 per year once mature. The initiative also supports farmers and small businesses. Over 169,000 seedlings went to commercial fields, 16,000 to individual farmers, and the rest to investors and government institutions. The expected fruit yield is over 10,000 tonnes with a market value above OMR4.3 million. The project also awarded more than 60 contracts to local SMEs, adding an economic layer to the environmental work.
