One NZ has introduced a pilot program to sell refurbished iPhones, aiming to lower the environmental impact of mobile devices. The company estimates that buying a refurbished phone instead of a new one can reduce associated emissions by 43 to 49 percent, saving an average of 34kg of CO2e per device. This initiative focuses on circularity by extending the lifecycle of hardware and reducing electronic waste. By keeping devices in use longer, the program minimizes the need for new mineral extraction and high energy manufacturing processes.
