OMV Petrom Invests EUR 5.4B in Renewables, BESS, and Low-Carbon Projects Under Strategy 2030
solarquarter.comOMV Petrom says it has spent EUR 5.4 billion of its EUR 11 billion Strategy 2030 budget since the plan launched in December 2021. The money is spread across renewables, battery storage, natural gas, sustainable fuels, hydrogen, and EV charging in Romania and Bulgaria. The renewable pipeline stands above 1.3 GW, with more than 0.7 GW under construction and 2.4 TWh of clean generation targeted by 2030. The company is aiming for over 0.3 GW of battery storage by 2030 to support its solar and wind assets. Natural gas remains central, with first gas from the Neptun Deep offshore project expected in the first half of 2027. Low and zero carbon projects are meant to take up about 25% of the EUR 11 billion investment program, and the company expects IRRs above 10%. On emissions, OMV Petrom kept its 30% Scope 1 and 2 reduction target by 2030 versus 2019, but revised its Scope 1 to 3 carbon intensity target down from a 20% cut to a 10% cut. That change matters, and the company says hitting its goals depends on technology, market demand, policy support, and funding.
