Oman India Fertiliser Company (OMIFCO) is studying multiple ways to produce low-carbon ammonia, including carbon capture, green hydrogen integration, and renewable energy use. The company has completed pre-feasibility studies on CCUS and a broader hydrogen cluster in the Sur region, with a roadmap developed by Norway's AKSO and carbon capture technology assessment by Italy's Casale. Implementation depends on building CO2 transport infrastructure and grid decarbonization. OMIFCO's strategy includes sourcing green hydrogen externally or producing it in-house, using solar and wind for plant utilities, and buying renewable electricity from the national grid. These steps aim to reduce carbon intensity while maintaining export competitiveness in global fertiliser markets. The plans are still under evaluation for technical and commercial viability, with no firm timeline announced.
