Oman's Ministry of Energy and Minerals has released an updated Net Zero Strategy and a new regulatory framework for carbon markets. The plan aims for carbon neutrality by 2050, with a specific target to reduce emissions by 33% by 2035 through tradable and verifiable carbon credits. Alongside the carbon market, Oman is pushing for a 10% renewable energy share by 2026 and targets 1 million tonnes of green hydrogen production annually by 2030. The government is also developing a unified permit system and a trade corridor with the Netherlands to facilitate hydrogen exports.
