Oman has launched an updated National Zero Carbon Neutrality Plan aiming for net-zero emissions by 2050. The strategy targets a 33% reduction in emissions by 2035, focusing on the oil, gas, transportation, and electricity sectors which currently drive 70% of the country's greenhouse gases. A new regulatory framework and the National Carbon Register will allow the government to convert emission reductions into tradable carbon credits. This system is designed to attract private investment into green hydrogen, renewable energy, and carbon capture technologies.
