Oman is scaling up its nature-based solutions to combat climate change, reporting the planting of over 11 million mangroves and hundreds of thousands of native trees. These efforts are part of the Oman Vision 2040 strategy to increase carbon absorption and protect coastal biodiversity. The government is now shifting focus toward the Plant Oman 2050 initiative, which targets 300 million new trees. Current data shows an average annual carbon reduction of 314,000 tonnes of CO2 equivalent, though the country faces challenges with seed sustainability in arid regions.
