Oman's Transition to Green Hydrogen and Carbon Markets
omanobserver.omOman is investing 44 billion dollars into green hydrogen projects to diversify its economy away from hydrocarbons. The country aims to produce one million tonnes of green hydrogen annually by 2030 and reach a 33 percent emissions reduction by 2035. To support these goals, Oman has launched the Meezan platform for carbon trading and set a target for renewables to make up 10 percent of its energy mix by 2026. The strategy balances current oil and gas revenues with long term net zero goals for 2050.
