Oman is targeting a significant shift in its energy mix, aiming for 30% renewable energy by 2030 and a net-zero carbon footprint by 2050. The government plans to invest over $140 billion in clean energy, with a specific focus on becoming a top global exporter of green hydrogen to Europe and Asia. These initiatives include the deployment of 16 gigawatts of solar and wind power, primarily in the Al Wusta and Dhofar regions. The strategy focuses on diversifying the economy away from conventional oil and creating thousands of jobs in the low-emission technology and manufacturing sectors.
