Omani climate tech company 44.01 is moving from pilot projects to commercial carbon storage. The company injects CO2 mixed with water into reactive rock formations, where it mineralizes in weeks rather than centuries. Its next phase includes a Holcim cement plant in Fujairah, with CO2 captured from the flue stack, trucked to an injection site, and stored as rock. Around 60 tonnes had been injected so far. 44.01 is also entering Norway and the Faroe Islands, building on geological data from partners and investors. It holds roughly 25 granted patents and 40 pending filings. Investors include Breakthrough Energy, Apollo, and Equinor. The company is developing carbon credit projects in Fujairah alongside industrial storage services, giving it more than one revenue path as it scales beyond Oman.
