Oman's Environment Authority reported planting over 72 million trees and expanding to 32 nature reserves covering 17,827 square kilometers as part of its push toward net-zero emissions by 2050. The tree planting initiative alone is estimated to reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 108,520 tonnes annually. The country also cultivated 100 million mangrove trees under its Blue Carbon project, which has absorbed 14 million tonnes of CO2 so far. Oman has joined 22 international environmental conventions and launched a National Net-Zero Program and Net-Zero Lab to coordinate climate action. The country's current emissions stand at 94.7 million tonnes, and green investment has risen to 27 percent from 3 percent previously. The Environment Authority reported a 91.3 percent compliance rate from over 53,000 inspection visits and a 39 percent waste recycling rate. Future targets include 90 percent quality levels for air, soil, and marine environment by 2040.
