Oman plans integrated green industrial park at Duqm with green metals, manufacturing, and silica zones
omanobserver.omOman is planning a large green industrial park at the Special Economic Zone at Duqm (SEZAD), integrating green metals, green manufacturing, and a silica-based cluster. The project aims to co-locate mineral extraction, low-carbon metals production, and downstream manufacturing to reduce emissions and logistics costs. Key anchor projects include a hydrogen-ready DRI/HBI complex from Jindal Steel and green iron ventures from Meranti Green Steel, all powered by renewable energy and green hydrogen from projects by ACME and Hyport Duqm. The park will also include a Silica Zone to process Oman's high-purity silica into solar glass, specialty glass, and potentially solar-grade silicon feedstock, supporting clean-tech supply chains. International consultants are bidding for the master plan contract, with bids due by July 14, 2026. The goal is to position Duqm as a regional hub for low-carbon metals and advanced manufacturing, targeting export markets in Europe and Asia.
