Oman Plans Green Industrial Park at Duqm: Low-Carbon Metals, Hydrogen, and Silica Processing Hub
omanet.omOman is planning an integrated green industrial park called Green Park at the Special Economic Zone at Duqm (SEZAD). The project will co-locate green metals production, green manufacturing, and a silica-based industrial cluster. It aims to produce low-carbon iron, steel, and aluminium using renewable energy and green hydrogen, with major ventures from Jindal Steel and Meranti Green Steel already in the pipeline. The park will also include a green manufacturing zone for value-added industries like renewable energy components and green chemicals, plus a silica zone processing Oman's high-purity silica into solar glass and other advanced products. The initiative targets export markets in Europe and Asia, leveraging Duqm's port and growing green hydrogen ecosystem from projects by ACME and Hyport Duqm. A master plan is under development with bids due by July 14, 2026, covering feasibility studies, regulatory frameworks, and infrastructure design. For investors, this signals a concrete move toward industrial diversification with strong export potential in low-carbon supply chains and clean-tech manufacturing.
