Oman has unveiled a new strategic plan to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050, introducing a regulatory framework to turn emission reductions into tradable carbon credits. The plan targets a 33 percent reduction in emissions by 2035, focusing on the oil, gas, transport, and electricity sectors. The strategy includes aggressive renewable energy targets, aiming for 10 percent of power production from renewables by the end of 2026 and up to 100 percent by 2050. Oman is also positioning itself as a green hydrogen hub, with projected capacity of 26.6 gigawatts of renewable energy by 2030.
