1 GW plus 500 MW with BESS on the larger site. That 20.5 million sqm plot is massive. Wonder about the interconnection cost and timeline. Oman grid is not exactly built for this scale yet.

The I-REC angle is interesting. 1.5 million RECs per year could be sold to corporates with voluntary targets. But the carbon reduction claims depend on what generation they displace. Gas mostly in Oman.

Solar at scale in the desert makes sense. But the BESS component is the part that will determine real grid value. 1 GW solar without storage would cause curtailment issues. Good they included it.
