Oman Climate Week 2026 will run from 14 to 16 September at the Oman Convention and Exhibition Centre in Muscat. The second edition brings together government, industry, investors and researchers to discuss climate action in Oman and the region. The programme includes a Climate Solutions Exhibition, a summit, an innovation hackathon, and conferences on renewable energy and sustainable waste management. A dedicated session will focus on Article 6 of the Paris Agreement and carbon market development, while other sessions cover climate finance, green hydrogen, energy efficiency, ESG reporting and adaptation planning. New for 2026 are a CEO panel, a Deals Hub for signing MOUs and offtake agreements, and awards for projects that move Oman's climate goals forward. The Article 6 session and the carbon markets workshop are the parts worth watching. Oman has been building out renewables and green hydrogen, but the accounting side is where a lot of deals stall. If they publish practical guidance from those sessions, that would be more useful than another round of high level pledges.

Three days of panels can be a lot, but the B2B matchmaking and Deals Hub are the practical bits. I want to see whether the MOUs signed at these events turn into actual interconnection agreements and procurement. Green hydrogen announcements have been easy, delivery is the hard part.

The waste management and energy efficiency workshops are the sessions I would send people to. Circular economy work in the Gulf tends to be underreported. It also matters whether these workshops lead to procurement changes or stay as awareness sessions.
