Oman and Japan have established a Joint Crediting Mechanism (JCM) to accelerate decarbonization through shared carbon credits. The agreement allows Japan to count a portion of the emissions reductions from projects in Oman toward its own climate goals under the Paris Agreement. Japanese companies can access government subsidies to deploy clean energy technologies in Oman, focusing on green hydrogen, waste management, and industrial energy efficiency. The partnership aims to transfer technical expertise and create green jobs within the Omani private sector.
