Oil India Limited has discovered a new natural gas reserve in the Dandewala field of Rajasthan's Jaisalmer district. This find marks the first confirmed presence of gas in the shallower Sanu Formation, with an estimated production capacity of 25,000 standard cubic metres per day. The reserve is noted for its relatively low carbon dioxide content, making it a cleaner energy resource than many conventional hydrocarbon finds. This discovery supports India's goal of reducing fuel imports and transitioning toward lower-emission energy sources.
