Oil India Limited has signed a memorandum of understanding with the Petroleum Technology Research Centre (PTRC) of Canada to collaborate on clean energy technologies. The partnership will focus on carbon capture, utilization, and storage (CCUS), enhanced oil recovery, and other low-carbon solutions. This deal connects an Indian state-owned oil company with a Canadian research hub known for its work on CO2 storage and monitoring. The agreement aims to transfer technical know-how and test CCUS methods in Indian oil fields. PTRC brings experience from the Aquistore project and other Saskatchewan-based carbon storage research. For Oil India, this is a step toward meeting India's net zero target by 2070 while still operating its existing hydrocarbon assets. The practical outcome will depend on how quickly pilot projects move from paper to injection wells.
