Oil and gas symposium in Sichuan focuses on CCUS and new energy integration for emissions reduction

The event featured 10 academicians and representatives from 32 companies, with sessions on carbon capture, utilization and storage (CCUS), new energy integration, and international cooperation. The symposium highlighted practical projects, including the China-Iraq Belt and Road Joint Laboratory on Oil and Gas Energy, which focuses on CCUS and clean energy use in oil fields. ZhenHua Oil reported building its first overseas megawatt-scale solar farm in Iraq and establishing a system for comprehensive utilization of associated gas, with plans to accelerate integrated photovoltaic projects and CCUS pilot programs. The event shows growing momentum for combining oil and gas operations with decarbonization efforts.
