The project focuses on sustainable forest management and livelihood support for communities living near forests. A key update is the Farm Forestry Carbon Credit Initiative. Over 2,700 beneficiaries across 12 forest divisions have enrolled, covering more than 1,800 acres. The program links smallholder farm forestry with carbon markets to generate long term income and environmental benefits. The governing body also formalized a Livelihood Resource Centre to support producer groups and forest based enterprises beyond the project period.

Small acreage per farmer means aggregation is key. If OFSDS can bundle those credits into a single verified pool, it might attract buyers. Otherwise the transaction costs will eat the returns. The three year extension gives them time to figure that out.
