Odisha Extends EV Policy to December 31, 2026: Road Tax Waivers and Purchase Subsidies Continue
energy.economictimes.indiatimes.comOdisha has extended its Electric Vehicle Policy, 2021 through December 31, 2026. The policy keeps 100% road tax and registration fee waivers in place, plus purchase subsidies for two-wheelers, three-wheelers, four-wheelers, buses, and goods carriers. Four-wheeler buyers can get 15% of vehicle cost, capped at ₹50,000, or ₹10,000 per kWh, up to ₹1.5 lakh. Two-wheeler subsidies are capped at ₹5,000 or ₹5,000 per kWh, up to ₹20,000. The extension gives EV buyers and manufacturers a fixed timeline for incentives, which helps planning. But the announcement does not include a total subsidy budget or specific charging infrastructure targets. For the policy to actually cut carbon emissions from transport, the state needs to pair purchase incentives with grid capacity and charging rollout.
