thehansindia.comOdisha has extended its Electric Vehicle Policy, 2021 through December 31, 2026, according to a notification from the Commerce and Transport department. The extension keeps in place a 100 percent exemption on road tax and registration fees for electric vehicles, along with purchase subsidies for two-wheelers, three-wheelers, four-wheelers, buses, and goods carriers. The state says the move supports its commitment to cutting carbon emissions and accelerating green mobility. The policy also includes incentives for EV manufacturing, scrapping old vehicles, and interest subvention on loans. Subsidies range from Rs 5,000 for two-wheelers to up to Rs 20 lakh for passenger buses, depending on specifications. By extending the policy, Odisha aims to give buyers and manufacturers more certainty for EV adoption and investment through the end of 2026.
