Octavia Carbon and Cella Mineral Storage have successfully completed their first underground injection of captured carbon dioxide in Kenya's Rift Valley. This milestone makes Octavia the fourth direct air capture company globally to achieve permanent storage of captured CO2. The project utilized a small initial volume of approximately 0.5 tonnes to prove the viability of the site. Cella aims to license this localized storage technology to industrial emitters and oil and gas companies to reduce the need for expensive CO2 transport pipelines.
