OCSiAl to supply single wall carbon nanotubes to PowerCo for EV battery production in Germany
batteriesnews.comOCSiAl, a Luxembourg based producer of single wall carbon nanotubes, has been selected as a supplier to PowerCo, Volkswagen's battery subsidiary, for its Unified Cell platform at the Salzgitter facility in Germany. The nanotubes will be used in graphite anodes to improve electrical conductivity and heat dissipation, enabling faster charging and longer battery life. OCSiAl says its nanotubes are already in batteries powering about one million EVs globally. Supply will come from OCSiAl's production site in Serbia, which passed audits from PowerCo and other European and Asian battery makers. The company is also building a larger nanotube facility in Luxembourg with a $300 million investment. This deal strengthens the European battery supply chain for next generation EV platforms.
