OCSiAl to supply single wall carbon nanotubes to PowerCo for EV battery production in Salzgitter
azonano.comOCSiAl, a major producer of single wall carbon nanotubes, has been selected as a supplier to PowerCo, Volkswagen's battery manufacturing subsidiary, for its Unified Cell battery platform. The nanotubes will be used in graphite anodes to improve electrical conductivity and heat dissipation, allowing battery cells to handle higher charge and discharge rates without overheating. Supply will come from OCSiAl's facility in Serbia, supporting local sourcing of critical battery materials in Europe. This deal is part of a broader push to scale up European EV battery production. OCSiAl already supplies nanotubes to most European EV battery makers, and the company is building a new graphene nanotube facility in Luxembourg. The technology is aimed at improving energy density, fast-charging, and cycle life in lithium-ion batteries, which are key factors for grid-scale storage and electric vehicle adoption.
