Ocean Visions launches public mCDR knowledge platform for marine carbon removal research
seafoodsource.comOcean Visions has launched a public knowledge platform for marine carbon dioxide removal (mCDR) research. The tool, published October 1, merges the nonprofit's earlier Field Trial Database and Ecosystem Database into one interactive hub. It includes maps of past and present field trials, downloadable data, and a directory of nearly 300 people working in the mCDR space. The platform is aimed at researchers, funders, policymakers, and seafood industry stakeholders. Ocean Visions says it wants to make mCDR activity more visible and help fisheries managers understand where trials are happening and who is involved. The organization is careful to note the platform does not provide model results or conclusions about the impacts of mCDR on fish stocks, it only synthesizes available information.
