A new online platform, Ocean Carbon Removal Watch, launched at the 2026 Carbon Forward Expo in London to track marine carbon dioxide removal (mCDR). It will monitor investments, field trials, and research across the sector, with backing from the Pulitzer Center. The platform aims to give journalists, academics, and the public a clearer view of where mCDR money and projects are heading. mCDR covers methods like ocean alkalinity enhancement, direct ocean capture, biomass sinking, and coastal habitat restoration. According to the Pulitzer Center's Jessica Aldred, more than $500 million has flowed into the sector over the past five years. The platform is intended to support better reporting on an emerging field where measurement and verification are still open questions.
