NTT DATA's 2026 sustainability report for its global data centers shows a 34% cut in operational carbon emissions since fiscal 2021, while the company keeps expanding capacity for AI workloads. Renewable energy now covers 72% of non-IT electricity use, and long-term power purchase agreements doubled to 675 GWh compared with FY24. The portfolio's average annual PUE came in at 1.35, with 1.58 GWh of waste heat from a Frankfurt facility sent to local district heating. The numbers matter because data center demand is climbing fast. Efficiency gains and renewable procurement are the two levers that can keep emissions from rising with compute. NTT DATA says the work supports its Net-Zero Vision 2040, but the report only covers non-IT load in the renewable share, so the full footprint still depends on how the IT side is powered.
