NTPC seeks industrial partners for 26% equity in co-generation plants
economictimes.indiatimes.comNTPC has invited expressions of interest from commercial and industrial buyers willing to take a 26% equity stake in co-generation projects. The plants would supply steam and electricity together, which is more efficient than generating them separately, and are meant to fit alongside NTPC's existing coal, renewable, and battery storage supply framework. NTPC says the goal is to give industrial users reliable, lower-cost energy under long-term contracts while supporting decarbonisation. The company currently operates more than 91 GW and has over 35 GW under construction, with a corporate target of 149 GW by 2032, including 60 GW of renewables. The key detail to watch is how the steam and power offtake terms are structured, since co-generation economics depend on matching industrial heat demand with generation capacity.
