NTPC Looks to Japan, South Korea, Germany for Green Ammonia and Low-Carbon Fuel Exports
uniquetimes.orgNTPC, India's largest power producer, is in talks with buyers in Japan, South Korea and Germany to sell green ammonia and other low-carbon fuels. The company plans a green hydrogen hub in Andhra Pradesh that would produce green ammonia and green methanol, both easier to ship than hydrogen. Chairman Gurdeep Singh said the focus needs to move from pilot projects to commercial ventures backed by long-term purchase agreements. India has set a target of 5 million metric tonnes of green hydrogen per year by 2030 and has earmarked roughly $2.1 billion in subsidies to support it. NTPC's push for overseas buyers shows how export markets may shape India's clean energy plans. The key question is whether offtake contracts and power infrastructure come together fast enough to turn policy targets into actual production.
