NTPC in talks with Japan, South Korea, Germany for green ammonia offtake from India hub
marketscreener.comIndia's largest power producer, NTPC, is talking to buyers in Japan, South Korea, and Germany about long term supplies of green ammonia and green methanol. The fuels would come from a proposed green hydrogen hub in Andhra Pradesh. The company says it wants to move hydrogen from pilot projects into commercial business, and overseas offtake is the missing piece. India has set a target of 5 million metric tons of green hydrogen per year by 2030, backed by about $2.1 billion in subsidies. Developers globally have struggled to sign long term purchase agreements, which are needed to finance large electrolyser plants. NTPC's talks are an early test of whether export demand can match India's production ambitions.
