NoviqTech is testing the use of pyrolysis to convert invasive Chinese Apple trees into biochar. This process aims to remove carbon from the atmosphere while clearing invasive species to help restore the Great Barrier Reef ecosystem. The project focuses on the thermal conversion of biomass into stable, carbon-rich material. By combining land restoration with carbon removal, the initiative seeks to create a sustainable pathway for environmental recovery and carbon sequestration.
