Novelis and Beiersdorf push Nivea Creme tin to 95% recycled aluminium
procurementmag.comThe Nivea Creme tin is now made with 95% recycled aluminium, up from an earlier milestone of 80% in 2024. Novelis and Beiersdorf worked together on alloy composition and manufacturing to keep the tin's look and durability while cutting the carbon footprint compared with primary aluminium. The new tin launched in Germany in early 2026, with broader European and international rollout planned from 2027. Recycling aluminium uses about 5% of the energy needed for primary production and can cut emissions by up to 95%. The recycled material comes through Novelis' European network, including its Nachterstedt facility with 400,000 tonnes of annual processing capacity. Beiersdorf is also targeting net zero emissions by 2045, and this packaging shift is one concrete step toward that goal.
